Tiffany & Co wins prestigious retail award

The Association for Retail Environments (ARE), a non-profit trade association, seeks to advance the retail environment industry by connecting brand marketers and retailers with professionals who can bring life to their retail space. Each year, ARE honors all parts of retail design by recognizing retail locations with awards such as, fixture of the year, visual representation of the year, 2013 Above and Beyond award, etc. This year’s ultimate honor, Store of the Year, was presented to Tiffany & Co.’s new downtown Manhattan location. ARE is quoted saying the result of the award was due to, “exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail.” The 9,000-square-foot store is actually two different spaces that span the entire block making the store hard to miss.

How did the renowned jeweler’s retail space win this prestigious award? ARE found that by decorating each individual selling space, “with distinct architectural elements that reference the venerable retailer’s history,” that the design provides an elegant interior that highlights the brand’s successful past. The location includes pieces from local artists and artisans giving the space a bit of New York’s personality, making the store fitting to the area.

It is impossible to think of this famed jewelry salon without it’s signature color. The store is outfitted with rare Amazonite stone giving it the iconic Tiffany blue that the brand is known for. In spite of the fact that it is difficult to obtain this type of stone in this particular color, the group vice president of global real estate and strategic store development, Anthony Robbins, located the stone overseas in order to orchestrate the stressful installation. He handpicked each piece from three different sources. The pieces then were sent to one quarry where they were assembled by hand to achieve the desired layout. This is the attention to detail that sets the space apart from its peers leaving no doubt that this location deserves this award.

Tiffany & Co. was honored with ARE’s Store of the Year due to their attention to detail, their incorporation of the brand’s distinct look, and their objective in creating a space that would be desirable to their consumer’s. The space reflects the priceless statement-jewelry they sell, making the space uniquely Tiffany.
