Cost Saving Benefits of an Interactive Kiosk

Posted by Kathy Heil on Apr 3, 2014 8:17:05 AM

Reduce transaction costs with a kiosk.

Don’t let the name fool you. You can use an interactive kiosk to reduce transaction costs inside your store as well as outside. Every time you can assist a customer or close a sale faster, your transaction costs go down. A kiosk enables customers to complete transactions entirely on their own, significantly reducing your cost per sale.

A kiosk is “open” 24 hours a day, every day. You can do business with people even when your store is closed, or facilitate transactions for customers who are on the go and don’t have time to come in and browse.

You can post your kiosk right outside your door, or you can place it in another high-traffic section of your store. You can locate it in an unusual place where it may reach an altogether different shopping audience. Kiosks allow you to branch out at a tiny fraction of the cost normally associated with opening additional storefront locations.

As every business owner knows, one of the biggest expenses is employees. Because an interactive kiosk offers tremendous opportunities to interact with customers more efficiently, you can pare down the number of employees you need to keep things running smoothly, and let skilled sales and customer service people devote more time and attention to shoppers who have complex questions or simply prefer a more personal touch.

How to Communicate with Retail Customers

Posted by aderby on Nov 29, 2013 1:20:26 PM

Kiosks Connect Retail Stores with Customers

Consumers are inundated with mediums in which to receive messages. As a retailer, you can utilize tweets, Facebook messages, emails, direct mail, in-store signs, word-of-mouth, and more. Which medium do you designate as a priority? Results from the most recent Cisco Internet Business Solutions Group (IBSG) study, which surveyed 5,000 shoppers in the U.S., the U.K., Brazil, Mexico and China, confirmed just how important digital retailing has become: 65 percent of shoppers perform research online and then make purchases in the store, up from 57 percent who did so in last year's survey. In addition, 78 percent of all shoppers use the Internet to research and purchase products and services. Some won't even buy a product unless they can research it online! These numbers beg the question, what are you doing to reach your customers on a digital platform?

Interactive Kiosks as a Communication Solution

The Cisco survey confirms that over half (52 percent) of shoppers cite online ratings and reviews as the most influential sources of information about purchase decisions. Help inform customers and help them to make that purchasing decision by providing this information in-store in the form of an interactive kiosk. Seven out of 10 shoppers want to access digital content in the store, and surveyed shoppers have equal preference about obtaining that content through retailers' touchscreens or their own personal devices.

Learn the different aspects of an interactive kiosk.

Kiosk design varies widely depending on the application. Whether your needs be ruggedness or attractiveness, stand-alone or incorporated into a much larger display fixture Palmer Retail Solutions, can customize your kiosk to fit your specific requirements. If you have an idea, we can make it a reality!

While there is no set formula for designing an interactive kiosk, there are basic building blocks every kiosk includes:

Inside its cabinet (1), a typical kiosk will probably be configured with a CPU of some sort (2), a standard display or possibly a touch screen (3), additional input devices or various sensors (4) and some form of exterior signage (5). The CPU is often simply a personal computer bought from a major manufacturer or made with off-the-shelf components. It could also be a specialized piece of electronic hardware. The display and interface peripherals can be as simple as a regular monitor, keyboard and mouse, or more sophisticated, like a large touchscreen display and proximity sensors.
