Enhanced lighting is one of the top three retail trends for 2015, and the growing number of LED light box options is transforming the way retailers think about both lighting and merchandising. LED light boxes are both lightweight and slender – sleekly modern looking, yet they blend beautifully into any type of retail environment from supermarkets to exclusive jewelry stores. Since light boxes are so versatile, let’s look at how you can leverage LED light boxes to turn your retail store into a visual communicator that engages customers and generates more sales.

Visuals are irresistible.

LED light box retail products can replace traditional signage and light up your store in entirely new ways. You can create overall impact or draw attention to certain displays or merchandise areas. You can use LED light boxes to display posters, ads or messages.

For instance, you can take signage beyond mundane, declarative instruction and let it tell a story. Illuminated posters so crisply that they almost feel three-dimensional can make it easy for customers to put themselves in the picture with your merchandise.

Start by deciding where you want to use light boxes, and for what purpose – as eye-catchers that draw shoppers into your store, to highlight certain products, to display information or other messages. Get creative – could you put them in your dressing rooms to upsell customers?

Not every LED light box retail possibility is a great choice for every application.

You will find a wide range of standard sizes and shapes, or you can custom-design light boxes to match your store and display goals. You can use them to equally great effect indoors or outside.

What should you look for?

  • Light boxes can be one-sided or double-sided, or you can create a multi-sided “kiosk” effect to jazz up display cases or define certain merchandise areas.
  • Although these units are most commonly suspended – along a wall, from a ceiling, in a display window – you can also mount them on a stand or attach them to the wall.
  • Graphic loading capabilities and options vary, so choose according to the visuals you plan to use
  • It’s essential that light boxes provide consistently bright light across the panel, so shoppers aren’t distracted by the “mechanics” of the fixture.
  • Some light boxes are less than an inch thick. Some styles have an obvious frame, whereas others have frames so thin that they’re almost invisible.
  • Closing mechanisms may be magnetic, snap into place, or flip up. Pick one that enables quick, easy replacement of the visuals inside your unit.

Strong visual impact is good, but lighted displays that are overly large or too plentiful will overwhelm shoppers instead of giving them an appealing experience. Viewing distance should be four to eight times the width of your visual.

Customization allows you to choose the precise specs, wiring configuration, and installation you want. Consult with an LED light box retail display expert first, to get great ideas and reliable recommendations about product options as well as designs unique to your store.
